My experience with Ayahuasca and Amazonian medicinal plants - Part IIII

We Are the Amazon

During the rest of the day I spent my time thinking about the situation, it had been a very intense experience and I honestly did not feel like staying. Once again, I thought that I should be brave and stay, also after all I had already gone through,  it was pointless to go now and throw everything away. I was full of courage and I kept accepting the challenge.

Last session of Ayahuasca

The eighth day passed normally and at night I had my last session. I was very nervous, but also Lucho told me that the worst was over and that the next ceremony would be calmer and help me to think inside myself to find myself.

When it got dark, the ceremony began, I was in the big maloca (hut) and accompanied by him. It was much more bearable, I did not have important visions and I dedicated it to think about my loved ones and the life that surrounded me. Therefore, I do not see a great interest in deepening it. Once it was over, I went to bed and rested.

The next day I woke up very early, I said goodbye with a big hug from Lucho, I thanked him for all the work he did for me. I put all my belongings in my backpack, went to the town’s port on the Amazon River and took the first motorized boat to the city of Iquitos.

Sensations after the taking of Ayahuasca and the treatment of Amazonian medicinal plants

The decision to take Ayahuasca for the first time was not easy and quick. I had already witnessed several ceremonies and it allowed me to understand a little the functioning and having lived in the Amazon I could hear many stories (almost all positive) about it and my interest of not ceasing to increase. Finally after much meditating and wanting to overcome some internal problems, I decided and I did.

I want to express that I have tried to capture my personal experience and it would be a huge mistake to assume it would be the same for other people. Each individual can have sensations and experiences totally different from mine and in no case should they be identical.

We must be aware that before taking Ayahuasca there are three factors that interact with the same importance so that their effects are different in each person:

– Substance (type, quantity and quality)

– Environment (feeds the perceptions that condition the session)

– The subject himself (biographical charge)

Having made it very clear that each person can experience it in a different way, then I will try to express briefly the sensations I had and the benefits of Ayahuasca that he did in my person.

Thanks to the treatment and taking of ayahuasca, in the following months I was able to enter a state of inner peace and joy, as if my conception of life had suddenly changed and was part of her and in particular of Nature.

In a way it allowed me to return to my origins, it showed me that we are part of Nature and that its strength was fundamental for my well-being.

The Ayahuasca allowed me to see my life in a kind of showcase, I could observe it from the outside to evaluate it and see aspects that I had never seen before but always being part of it. He helped me examine it, but without judging me because I saw it and experienced it from a point of view that I never had before.

It should be noted that it helped me considerably to eradicate the banal dimensions of life, it returned me to my interior and to what I really wanted. I was able to find the determination to embark on my personal projects and at the same time face my fears. I was aware that to achieve my goals I had to know and look for solutions to my doubts.

I could write a lot more about Ayahuasca and its positive effects that it had with me, but I prefer that everyone try it and discover it on their own. That is the grace of taking Ayahuasca, wanting to face your problems and discovering yourself. I hope my experience is a reference but you also have to be clear that the effects may vary in all people since we are all a different being.

The main objective is that my experience helps anyone to understand Ayahuasca and its function, trying to dispel the many doubts that you may have about it and the disinformation existing in the networks.

The most important thing is that everyone should know when to take it and the reason why. Never get carried away by other people’s pressures, find your own way, find the meaning of life and reach happiness. That is our biggest goal in life: to be happy with oneself.

Note: We Are The Amazon does NOT organize trips for taking Ayahuasca or want to advocate its consumption. The blog attempts to capture the personal experiences and culture of the inhabitants of the Amazon
